Modern interpreting tools are essential in today's connected AV world, from small meetings and live events to large bureaucratic organizations, in fact any production where there is a multilingual audience.

Studio Technologies is known for creating smart and well-functioning products with Dante that facilitate communication and now they have launched a device specifically designed for interpreting purposes - the Model 201 Interpreter's Console.

The Model 201 has everything needed for a complete interpreting position and includes both standard and advanced features not usually found in interpreting equipment. The Model 201 has the ability to create two independent interpreting audio channels. Configuration options make it possible to include different audio sources in the interpretation audio; content that can be automatically muted or lowered when interpretation is active. This is particularly important for remote or streaming applications.

A two-channel headphone output is available and can be configured to meet the needs of the interpreter. This includes selection of audio sources, channel routing and sidetone. A set of buttons and pots allow the user to find the settings that work best for them.

• Separate buttons for turning the interpretation signal on and off allow the connected microphone to be routed to the desired interpretation channels and temporarily muted.
• Talkback function allows a separate output to be routed to production staff.
• Slow down function, which allows the interpreter to signal the presenter to speak more slowly if warranted.

The Model 201 can be used alone to create a simple monolingual interpreting position but can easily become part of a multilingual application. Using Dante, one or more Model 201 units can be integrated with other Studio Technologies products to achieve a sophisticated voice interpretation system.

The Model 201's sound quality is excellent, with low distortion, low noise and plenty of headroom. Only a (PoE) connection and a headset with microphone are required for operation. The Model 201 supports both "pro" headsets using 5-pin XLR and "gaming" headsets using 3.5mm TRRS connectors. The Model 201 is housed in a compact but robust steel enclosure designed for tabletop use. Its small size makes it ideal for applications in locations with limited space.

The Model 201 is configured using the STcontroller software application. Available free from Studio Technologies, the STcontroller allows production personnel to quickly and easily configure the unit's operating capabilities to meet the exact needs of an application. The STcontroller is offered in versions compatible with WinOS® and macOS™ operating systems.
