DPA 4266 Omnidirectional Headset Microphone combines the legendary sound of the 4066 capsule with a light and flexible headset. This condenser capsule is light and adjustable and has a transparent sound with plenty of headroom. The capsule is the same as the 4066, but in the 4266 it sits on a replaceable arm.†

Like all microphones in the series, the 4266 can handle very high sound levels. Users can both sing and talk into the mic without any distortion.†

4266 is available in both earset and headset. Earset is faster to put on and therefore fits very well in applications where microphones need to be changed and put on new users quickly, for example conferences. The headset variant sits more securely on the head and is ideal for situations where the user moves more, such as TV productions or musicals. Both versions are ergonomically designed to sit comfortably on the user.

By turning the arm and the ear hook, you can use 4266 on both the left and right ear. Another upgrade from the 4066 is that the cable is replaceable through a connector.†

IP58 rated

All CORE by DPA microphones are IP58 rated. This means that they are dust resistant and can be immersed in 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to 30 minutes. Durability is achieved through a number of things:

?† † Hermetic seal of the delicate amplifier in the capsule
?† † Double gold plating of the membrane

ROUND-TAKING

An omnidirectional microphone basically picks up all sound equally from all angles. It gives you an extremely natural and realistic sound compared to a directional microphone. Omnidirectional microphones are often used to record ambient sounds, but also large sound sources, such as driving. However, they are more omnidirectional than directional microphones in a live situation.†

Despite that, DPA recommends an omnidirectional headset in the first place, because you end up very close to the sound source (in this case, the mouth). A round-gauge will usually give you a more natural sound, it can handle higher sound pressures, is insensitive to the proximity effect and is not as sensitive to wind or handling noise.†
