Description
All Sonifex AoIP devices are supported by the Sonifex Discovery & Control software, where each model has its own set of controls customized for its specific functions. These controls, called 'tiles', are developed for each product and can include functions such as status, measurement or other relevant functions. Panels can be customized as needed, enabled or disabled, and rearranged to suit your preferences.
The Device Discovery screen automatically discovers your Sonifex products on the network and provides a clear overview of connected devices and their current status. From this screen, you can quickly identify each Product by its Device ID, Host Name, IP address, Dante Name, and Friendly Name.
The interface also shows whether a device has been configured for monitoring, along with a clear online/offline status indication for quick assessment of the system.
Additional indicators provide immediate visibility of:
- Product-specific alerts/alarms
- Talkback/callback function for supported devices
A search and filter function allows you to quickly find devices via any available field, making navigation easy even in large or complex installations.
The Monitoring Configuration screen displays a dedicated Monitored Device List, which contains all products selected for active monitoring.
From here, you can create custom monitoring groups to organize your system into logical areas or operational zones. Devices can then be assigned to groups with a simple drag-and-drop function, allowing for quick and intuitive system configuration.
The Device Monitoring screen provides a real-time operational overview of all monitored devices. Users can easily switch between multiple monitoring groups, allowing different parts of the system to be segmented for simplified monitoring and control.
Each device is represented by a factory-defined monitoring panel, carefully designed to present the most relevant information for that product type. Depending on the unit, this may include:
- Sound level measurement (Audio metering)This curated approach ensures that critical information is always visible at first glance.
The integrated Talkback feature enables direct communication with compatible devices anywhere on the network. Users can select a microphone connected to the host computer and route the audio directly to the target device, creating an instant communication path.
This functionality is ideal for centralized control environments, as it allows a single operator to monitor, manage and communicate with multiple devices from a single location.
The software also offers seamless integration with the Sonifex AVN-GPIO platform, allowing notifications and device events to trigger physical GPIO actions via a virtual GPIO. This allows multiple communication methods to be used simultaneously, including:
- Warning lights
- Acoustic notifications
- External signal horns/buzzer
- Customized GPIO-triggered actions
The result is a highly flexible monitoring and control environment designed for professional broadcast and AV workflows.
- Central hub for all Sonifex equipment.
- Automatic device discovery on the network (HTTP + Dante/network audio).
- Status monitoring with automatic online/offline detection. Improves visibility and user control.
- Customized monitoring groups (drag-and-drop, rename, reorder).
- Real-time monitoring dashboard with live status updates.
- On-Air indication and sound level measurement per device/channel (product dependent).
- One-click "Talk & Listen" to communicate with connected devices (product dependent).
- Help/call indicator workflow with synchronized alarms in the user interface.
- AVN-GPIO integration (Ember+) to control physical outputs from Help states.
- Intelligent Windows notifications to flag potential problems at an early stage.
- Permanent configuration (devices, groups and settings are remembered after reboot).
- Built-in event logging for quick troubleshooting.
- Reinforces Sonifex focus on reliability and seamless operation.
- Provided at no cost.
- Supports a more connected and reliable Sonifex ecosystem.
Sonifex Discovery & Control software is ideally suited for a wide range of professional audio applications, including broadcast studios, live production and master control rooms (MCR), where reliable monitoring and management of multiple Sonifex devices is necessary. It also supports talkback and intelligent notifications on devices where clear communication between teams is required. In addition, it plays a valuable role in maintaining continuous operation, where system visibility and reliability are crucial factors.
